"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14

Our program is designed to provide families in our community professional and nurturing care for their young ones. About Us

Our Teachers

Our team of teachers has been with Hope Lutheran Day School for an average of three years, creating the stability that is essential in helping children connect with their teachers. The team currently consists of seven teachers and five aides. All of our teachers are qualified and experienced educators who enjoy working and learning with children. Members of the teaching staff are either licensed by the State of California as elementary school and preschool teachers or they have obtained the necessary higher education units to qualify as early childhood educators. Teachers at Hope are encouraged to grow as professionals in the early childhood education field; all of our teachers are either actively pursuing permits or are regularly attending workshops to keep themselves abreast of best practices

Learning should be enjoyable and fun. As a preschool teacher at Hope Lutheran, my role is to provide a safe Christian environment — filled with love and fun — that is conducive to learning. My goal is to encourage and guide the physical, cognitive, language, emotional and social development of each child through imaginative play and creative learning. From this, it is my hope and prayer that children become truly interested in learning.

I hold a preschool site supervisor permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and am working on a degree in early childhood education. I also attend regular professional workshops through Child Care Coordinating Council of Sam Mateo to keep myself updated with new research in the field of early childhood education. I thank God continually for giving me this passion and enthusiasm to love and teach young children, and through teaching, share with them God’s unconditional love and faithfulness.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education Studies from San Francisco State University. I have found working with the children at Hope very rewarding, as I watch them grow and develop each day. I believe growing, learning, laughing, and making friends are a child’s roles in life. As their teacher and caregiver, I am here to guide your precious little ones and provide them “a home away from home.”

I am our Assistant Director/ Pre-K teacher. I obtained a BA in Psychology in 2004 and a California Multiple Subject Credential in 2006 from Sonoma State University. I have worked with children for over ten years and have been working at Hope Lutheran Day School since 2007. My goal is to prepare our students for kindergarten, while incorporating play and hands-on learning into the process.

I have been working here for a couple of years and hope to continue to do so. I graduated from San Francisco State with a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis in School Age and Families. I love working with children and making a difference in their lives. I also coach girls’ basketball at Wallenberg High School in San Francisco.

Motherhood, to my surprise, led me to my passion of teaching young children. With my daughter as my sidekick, I began my journey in the ECE field at Skyline College. I began my teaching experience working with children at Skyline's CDC. I received a Certificate in ECE by completing a hands-on practicum course as a student teacher working with kindergarten and first grade children at Sunset Ridge Elementary School. I graduated Skyline with both an A.S in ECE and an A.A in Liberal Arts. I completed my internship at the ASI of SF State Early Childhood Center in the transitional toddler room.

In January 2013, I earned a B.A in Child and Adolescent Development with a concentration in Young Child and Family. Since then, I have continued to build on my teaching experience as a substitute teacher. I am blessed and honored to be the newest addition to Hope's teaching team!!

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” PROVERBS 22:6
In addition to my love for children, the above Bible verse has been a cornerstone of my philosophy as an educator. I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to encourage children to use their God given creativity to obtain knowledge and along the way teach them to make good choices in life. Education is more than the academics; it is the development of a whole child who is secure and well-loved.
